System Overview
Scope of Application
This system is designed to perform online inspections of inkjet coding quality on beverage carton production lines. It automatically detects and rejects defective cartons, ensuring minimal disruption to the production process.
Core Features
Non-Contact, Real-Time Inspection: Ensures no risk of product damage during the inspection process.
High Throughput: Capable of inspecting up to 60 cartons per minute.
Intuitive HMI: Features a user-friendly interface with multiple levels of access control.
Customizable Functions: Adjustable settings to fit specific production line needs.
Defective Carton Image Storage: Automatically stores images of defective cartons, with flexible retention periods.
24/7 Remote Support: Provides continuous, round-the-clock assistance.
Seamless Rejection: Continues rejecting defective cartons even during production downtimes.
Inspection Capabilities
The system performs a variety of checks to ensure code quality, including:
Inkjet Presence Verification: Detects missing codes.
Blurred or Illegible Print Detection: Identifies prints affected by faulty inkjet nozzles.
Missing Character Detection: Flags when more than 30% of a character is missing.
Print Position Monitoring: Identifies deviations from specified print positions.
Distorted Print Detection: Identifies prints that are warped, elongated, or shortened.
Content Accuracy Verification: Ensures information such as production dates, factory codes, and security codes are accurate.
Installation Requirements
For optimal performance, the system should be installed 1.5–2 meters downstream of the inkjet printer along a stable, straight conveyor path.
Detection Principle
A Gigabit digital camera captures images of the carton codes, either from top to bottom or side to side. The images are then processed digitally to identify cartons with invalid codes, which are automatically removed from the line.
The process works as follows:
When a carton passes a positioning sensor, it triggers the system to detect and record the carton’s ID and encoder signal.
The sensor signals the digital camera to capture an image of the carton code and sends it to the image processor via a network.
The image processor analyzes the image and sends the results to the HMI for dynamic display, as well as to the control unit.
If defective coding is detected, the control unit alerts the rejector to remove the faulty carton from the line.

Detection accuracy:
serial number
| Inspection Items | Detection Conditions and Accuracy | Rejection rate
| False kick rate
|
1 | Inkjet Printing Inspection | -- | -- | < = 0.03% |
1.1 | No inkjet printing | -- | >99.99%
1.2 | Missing inkjet printing | Single character > 30% | >99.8%
1.3 | Fuzzy inkjet printing | Indecipherable characters to the human eye | >99.93%
1.4 | Incorrect inkjet printing | Incorrect production date, incorrect factory code, incorrect security code, deformation (elongation or shortening) | >99.99%
1.5 | Position deviation | Exceeding the expansion zone | >99.99%
1.6 | Duplicate inkjet printing | Multiple codes printed within the code area | >99.99% |
Note: The rejection rate of the test item "no coding" described in the table means that out of 10,000 bottles of unqualified products without coding, there may be 1 box that is not rejected after being tested by the equipment. This is only theoretical experimental data, and the same applies to other test items.
