2.the maximum speed can reach 1000 cans / min.
3.Reliable detection and stable operation for long time Easy to install and easy to operate
I. Equipment Specifications and Site Requirements
1. Project Overview
Project Title: Empty Can Inspection System
Project Objective: This system applies advanced machine vision technology to achieve fully automatic, non-contact, online inspection of empty cans. It effectively identifies defects such as mouth deformation, surface contamination, internal foreign matter, and collapsed cans.
Rated Capacity: 1000 cans/minute
Container Type: Two-piece cans
Container Volume: 100 mL – 600 mL
2. Operating Environment
Altitude Range: 5 – 3000 m above sea level
Ambient Temperature: 5°C – 40°C
Relative Humidity: 50% – 65% RH
Factory Requirements: Floor flatness, load-bearing capacity, and environmental conditions must comply with national standards to ensure stable equipment operation.
Storage Conditions: Equipment and components must be stored per national regulations, with proper lubrication and maintenance during storage to prevent surface damage or deformation that may affect installation, commissioning, and long-term operation.
3. Equipment Operating Conditions
Noise Level: ≤85 dB (actual value may vary depending on packaging type, machine load, and building acoustics).
Power Supply: 220V, 50Hz, single-phase (other voltages require prior confirmation and may affect equipment specifications, lead time, and pricing).
Total Power Consumption: Approx. 1.0 kW
Control Voltage: 24VDC
4. System Overview
4.1 Equipment Information
Name: Empty Can Detector
Model: MT-YLG-KG-C1-01
Quantity: One set
Throughput: 1000 cans/minute
Application: Suitable for two-piece can production lines operating at up to 1000 cans/minute.
Installation Point: Mounted on the single-lane conveyor upstream of the filler.
Primary Function: Real-time vision-based inspection to identify mouth deformations, cracks, V-notch defects, flaps, dents, surface contamination, and internal foreign matter, with automatic rejection of defective cans.
4.2 System Principle and Workflow
A positioning sensor detects each incoming can, records its ID, and synchronizes encoder data via the control unit.
The sensor triggers the camera to capture the can’s image. The image processor analyzes the captured data, displaying inspection results on the HMI in real time, while transmitting rejection commands to the control unit.
Upon receiving a defective signal, the PLC activates the rejection mechanism, ensuring the corresponding can is removed from the line.
Installation Requirement: A 2-meter straight conveyor section must be provided by the customer, ensuring a 2 cm spacing between cans, with no compression or overlap. This condition is critical for stable inspection performance.
4.3 Empty Can Inspection Module
Inspection Scope & Accuracy:
Mouth Area: Detection of deformations, cracks, V-shaped notches, and flaps.
Can Body: Identification of dents, scratches, or external contamination.
Interior Surface: Detection of internal foreign objects or debris.
Structural Integrity: Recognition of under-pressurized or collapsed cans.
The module delivers high inspection reliability with a low false-rejection rate, ensuring product quality and supporting efficient, uninterrupted production.

Description (Please read carefully)
| This solution adopts a single-station single-lens inspection method, the main purpose of which is to control the can mouth (strict precision), large flat cans and large foreign objects. Since the subsequent processes include hot water washing and filling with nitrogen, small foreign objects can be washed away by hot water. Therefore, the detection accuracy of small foreign objects and small deformation of the can wall will be lower. |
