I. Equipment Overview

This system is designed for online inspection of carton coding quality on beverage carton production lines. It automatically detects defective coding and removes faulty cartons from the line.

II. Inspection Capabilities

The system provides comprehensive coding quality checks, including:

  1. Code presence detection – identifies missing inkjet prints.

  2. Blur detection – detects blurred characters that are hard to read.

  3. Character omission – flags missing characters where over 30% of a single character is absent.

  4. Position accuracy – detects codes outside the preset alignment range.

  5. Code distortion – identifies bent, elongated, or shortened prints.

  6. Content validation – checks for incorrect codes such as wrong dates, factory codes, or security codes.


III. Installation Requirements

The inspection unit should be installed 1.5–2 meters downstream from the inkjet printer on a straight section of the conveyor to ensure stable and accurate detection.

4. Detection principle

A Gigabit digital camera is used to take pictures from top to bottom/side to collect pictures of the carton coding. The pictures are digitally analyzed and the cartons with unqualified coding are automatically and accurately removed online.

When a box passes the positioning sensor, its arrival is detected and the control unit records the box identification number and the current encoder signal. The positioning sensor triggers a digital camera to capture an image of the current box's coding and transmits it to the image processor via the network. The image processor processes and analyzes the received image and transmits the results to the human-machine interface for dynamic display and to the control unit. Upon receiving the unqualified coding signal, the control unit notifies the rejector to remove any boxes with unqualified coding corresponding to the identification number online.
